Immigration of Greeks to Australia began in the middle of the nineteenth century. On the 29th May 1898, the foundations of the first Greek Orthodox Church, the Holy Trinity, were laid. Nektarios of Aegina is one of the most famous Greek Orthodox Saints. Many Greeks regarded Nektarios as a saint whilst he was still alive, because of his pious lifestyle, his many virtues, the wisdom of his written words and the miracles he performed. The Holy Monastery of Saint Nectarios is located at Croydon Park, Adelaide, South Australia. It is a member parish of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia and of the worldwide communion of Orthodox Churches.
