Teachings of Bible for the Parents

A greedy man brings trouble to his family, but he who hates bribes will live.

Proverbs 15:27

Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.

Proverbs 22:6

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.

Ephesians 6:4

But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

1 Timothy 5:8

A typical family constitutes of parents and children. While the children are dependent, the parents have a role of providers and children are the receivers. As providers, parents generally try to give best to the children (according to the resources available to them).  I remember, on every meal, my father used to select for himself the portion of meat with bones and leave good meat portion for the children. At that time, I always thought that he has a special liking for meat with bones, but  as a father  I understand now , because I always keep best of everything for my children, most of the time scarifying my own comforts and wishes. The best of all the things imparted to me by my parents is academic and religious education. My parents very particularly laid emphasis on regular study sessions, regular daily prayers, regular attendance of school and  regular attendance of Sunday school. As children we used to obey our father without any question. Bible defines clear responsibilities of parents and children, if both parties get guidance from the Holy Bible for their family life; I think it shall result in a very happy, joyful and contended family.
