Move the Moutains – Daily Strength

Old Testament

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

Hebrews 11:1

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Hebrews 11:6

New Testament

He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

Matthew 17:20

Food for Thought

I often see Bulldozers leveling land for housing schemes or for agriculture purposes, I remember the words Jesus said, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move”. I often think so much effort is being employed for this work, how it is possible to do it just with faith. Conceivably this phrase was used by Jesus to encourage his disciples to be ready to undertake the seemingly impossible task to propagate and expand Christianity throughout the world. The question arises what is faith that helps in accomplishing impossible tasks, the bible defines faith as “sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see”. We can clearly say faith is a combination of hope, belief and unseen. Now we analyze the Word of God about faith, the first portion what is called hope is from the human side, belief on unseen is again from human side. New Testament tells us the outcome faith; it is the help of God to accomplish the task. When Daniel went into the cage of hungry lions, he had a complete faith on God and he came out without a scratch. The builder or agriculturist has trust on Bulldozers for leveling land, however, if there is an element of uncertainty, he will probable abandon the work. As believers, we have to take step forward and pray for God help, surely, if we have faith, we will accomplish the impossible.
