Small yet Effective

Mustard Seeds
Mustard Field

Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:

Mathew 13:31

It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it.

Luke 13:19

It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth:

Mark 4:31

Mustard Bush

And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Mathew 17:20

And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.

Luke17:6

Food for Thought

Today, while checking my blog , I noticed that “ Mustard Seed Budget” liked my post and commented on it. The comments inspired me and I went through all available material about this organization on the net; I commend all the good work being done the team. I dedicate this piece of information to “Mustard Seed Budget”.

Mustard Seed is mentioned twice in Matthew, once in Mark, and twice in Luke, It surfaces total five times in the New Testament. Mustard Seed has mostly been used in reference to having faith like a grain of mustard seed. I would like to mention few anomalies and there explanation:-

  • The smallest seed in the world is definitely not the mustard seed, the smallest seed is probably Orchid Gomesa Crispa. The crispate flowers that are about 0.8 in/2 cm in diameter are exceptionally short-lived. Conceivably, the Jesus was talking to the local Palestinians; Jesus was comparing Mustard Seeds to the other seeds that were being used by the locals at that time.
  • I have seen Mustard Fields in my country, these are not big enough for the birds to make nest on them. Again, to understand this, we have to go back to Palestine in that very time frame. Few varieties of mustard plant like Wild Mustard Plant probably referred in scripture grows up to 10-12 feet in height and birds can dwell over it. There are wild mustard plants over ten feet tall near the River Jordan, and even in moderate climate a mustard plant may grow that tall, provided it gets enough sunshine.

All these versus teaches us to have little faith, initially equal to Mustard Seed and Holy Spirit will develop this faith into a strong tree, our fellows, friends, family members and neighbors will find a place to develop spiritual habitat. This blog is a beginning; I pray God shall give me strength to build a complete media center, from where oppressed soul can get comfort.

I invite all those who share this vision to come forward and make a team.

May God Bless You All

  1. joyce meyer said something yesterday that stuck with me. she said, ““If God lives in you, then everything that’s in Him is in you; everything He has, you have. You have all the peace you will ever need.” http://www.joycemeyer.org/BroadcastHome.aspx?video=The_Lord_Our_Peace
God gave me a children’s book idea about heaven because my church momma’s best friend in new york, nancy, has a grandbaby, sophia, asking questions about heaven nancy didn’t know how to answer. as i started writing it God directed me to share with sophia 3 things: heaven is a safe place, if she loves Him all her life she’ll go there, and everything God HAS is available to HER if she’s His. that’s what mustard seed faith is all about. Christ in you, the hope of glory. wonderful blog. loved it.
