Verse of the Day
“And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28
Food for Thought
In 1986, a sudden surge of power during a reactor systems test destroyed Unit 4 of Chernobyl’s nuclear power plant, spewing massive amounts of deadly radioactive material into the environment. While many perished, three clean-up volunteers named Alexi Ananenko, Valeri Bezpoalov and Boris Baronov – willingly met their fate. A pool of water used for emergencies in case of a break in the cooling pumps or steam pipes became flooded with a highly radioactive liquid that was in danger of blowing up. These three men suited up in scuba gear and swam into the radioactive waters of the flooded chamber, knowing fully well they would die as a result. They opened up a gate valve, which allowed the contaminated water to drain out. Days after reaching the surface all three men succumbed to radiation poisoning and were buried in lead coffins. These three persons averted a very big disaster by scarifying their lives.
All the great people, who offer sacrifice of their lives, are remembered even after their death. There are thousands of Christian missionaries, who sacrificed their lives to serve humanity, and they are remembered and honored even today. We believe that their souls are resting in heaven in eternal peace. We are often afraid to take stand against evil to avoid any harm to our body, but we forget to remember that God is there to protect us; moreover, our lives and our souls are in hands of God, He can extend or shorten our life and also save or destroy our soul. Then why to be afraid of evil, in fact fear is the instrument of devil, he uses this tool to stop us for doing right things.
“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1
Heavenly Father, we thank you for the gift of courage that you give us through your powerful words. Knowledge of Your words that are written in Holy Bible gives us wisdom and bravery. Lord, we are weak, feeble, foolish and evil; therefore, we are very vulnerable to attacks by evil forces. O Lord, give us strength and courage to withstand this onslaught and remain steadfast. Accept our prayer in Jesus name. AMEN
